Energy audit

energy audit

Energy audit is a procedure that includes an assessment of the energy performance of a building in accordance with the energy efficiency calculation method of the building and the offer of energy saving options. The method of calculation is described in Cabinet Regulation No. 13 of 13 January 2009. https://likumi.lv/doc.php?id=258128 un ēku energoefektivitātes likums - https://likumi.lv/doc.php?id=253635   ">39 "Building Energy Efficiency Calculation Method" https://likumi.lv/doc.php?id=258128 and Building Energy Efficiency Law - https://likumi.lv/doc.php?id=253635

The method defines two types of energy performance assessments of the building: estimated (properties) and measured (operational). The estimated energy efficiency assessment (property) of a building is based on theoretical calculations of energy consumption for heating, cooling, ventilation, heating and lighting of the building. The building's measured energy performance assessment (operation) must be based on the quantities measured and delivered for energy input.

The energy auditing calculations take into account the thermal conductivity of the building envelope, the energy consumption for heating, hot water, air conditioning, ventilation and built-in lighting, also takes into account the location of the building, the internal
microclimate and external climatic conditions. After the energy audit of the building, recommendations are made for improving the energy efficiency of the building.

After an energy efficiency assessment of a building, a calculation can be made to compare and find economically viable solutions.

The energy performance of the building is assessed by an energy auditor. An energy auditor is a person who receives certificates of competence in the field of energy efficiency of buildings. He is responsible for the objectivity of the energy performance of the building and the accuracy of the calculation results.

The list of certified energy auditors can be found on the website of the Ministry of Economics www.em.gov.lv> Areas of activity> Housing> Energy efficiency> Energy auditors register.

It is essential that the energy auditor performs his work qualitatively. The Energy Audit Overview is an essential document that shows the bottlenecks in the home's heat insulation. The specialist carries out house surveys and calculates the heat balance of the building (consumption, losses). Drawing up an implementation
the energy auditor is advised to simulate the situation in accordance with the planned planned renovation measures.

In addition to the energy audit, another service is available - the thermography of the building.
